Smaller cities best
I have found it best to travel to the smaller cities like Cartagena and Barranquilla.
Cali and Bogota the women are professional daters. There are so many agencies the women make a living on joining marriage agencies. There must be 50 agencies in Cali and the translators I talk to say these girls join all the agencies and have dates almost every night. I have met the best women in both Cartagena and Barranquilla.

dateing in Colombia
I have travelled in Colombia for last 10 years,what a country ! absolute paradise for the us gringos.People are friendly,educated and serious, the women are gorgeous,sassy and fun and they genuinely like us, and specially appreciate it if you make the effort to speak the language
What a pity the bad press this country has, when compared to the rest of central america with perhaps the exception of Costa Rica, Colombia is like Switzerland,never had a singled bad moment

just an opinion
well im colombian, but most of mi life i been in the states, my family comes from cali and the time i been there to tell yuo the truth i loved it, when i was reading this i felt very bad when u say that cali girls they r more or less fake , well like i the states there lot of types of ppl n just because you end up with the wrong ones in that city doesnt mean they all like that, n plus if you get into an agency thats wut u get, i wonder if you get to know one fake girl in those cities what would u say then????????

Clarification
Let me clarify myself, I do not mean all women in Cali are like this.
The problem is there are so many dating agency in Cali a majority of these women found out that they could go out on dates each night, wined and dined and receive gifts. Then join every agency there is in town so they can go out three or four times a week.
So this group of women has made a business out of dating. I have heard it over and over from guys who travel to see a woman in Cali, they have a nice time but the women never has any interest in getting married. They ask for gift, English lessons and computer to write to you. And that is it. The day you leave the next guys is taking her out. Again these are the women my friends and I have seen form the agency and online from Cali.
The agency in Cali seems to be plagued with these girls.
Now in the other smaller cities I have found where there is on one or two agencies they do not put up with this. And if they get banned there no real place for the to go.
At the AFA office If a girl and man get serious they will not introduce her to another guy.
So the point is a lot of the women in the Cali agencies seem to be spoiled, Not Cali women themselves.

Opinion from cali
There was many marriage agencies on Cali on 2005 when Latin traveler did his post, this is not the case anymore, a big number of agencies closed or they just have a website but is not the way it used to be. Anyway i personally met some of the girls that join these agencies and yes there is a lot that go just to find a Visa or money support but there is a big number of girls that are tired of colombian men being unfaithful and not having much to offer so they see an option on the americans, and i know there are some americans that found what they were looking for in cali.

I have also heard that barranquilla is a really good place to visit for a vacation. Like any city it seems there are good and bad areas and you just need to be smart and safe and you would be fine.
But beside barranquilla what are the best cities?
